Within a hundred yards of our house you will encounter the medieval walls that have safeguarded the village since the 13th century. Over recent years - in line with most other villages in the area, the walls have been restored to their former glory. Old murals have been discovered and repainted in one of the porticos.

Porta Della Croce Cobbled Walkways Medieval Town Walls

They are typical of the fortified villages in this area. They also offer some spectacular views in all directions - towards the coast in the East; to the mountains in the West.

Piccolo Vicolo

Sunset Over the Sibillini Mountains

The old village houses are tall and appear to be leaning across the cobbled streets to greet each other. This offers the perfect solution for protection against the relentless summer sun. Walking through these narrow vias and vicolos invites the mind to wander back through the centuries. Stop at the Cafe Centrale for a light lunch washed down with a glass of the local Vino Frizzante or a Verdicchio.
